This is a good website. If I'd read even a quarter of it several years ago, it would've saved me a whole heckuva lot of trouble.

Another thing found on MetaFilter. I may stop reading BoingBoing if this keeps up: most of the really interesting stuff ends up over on MF anyway.

Anyway, I came across this while skimming through Metafilter. I have had a strange fondness for things you probably shouldn't be able to see or know about, but can and do, ever since I was a wee babe. (I blame you, [livejournal.com profile] wombat_socho.) I have no doubt that my affinity for grey stuff is either going to get me in trouble or provide me with interesting anecdotes someday. In the meantime, I get to read around the edges of things most people don't pay a passing thought to, like open secrets from the Soviet Union, the underbelly of cities, and the interesting bits that occasionally creep out from under the curtain in America.

There's some cool shit out there worth learning. It pays to keep the eyes and ears open... you can never tell what you'll hear or read next.

Come to think of it, that's as good an argument for getting a ham radio license as any I've heard so far.
Up early this afternoon in the interest of reorienting a bit for the trip. Since I'm short on sleep, I'm long on visual content and short on any interesting or brain-intensive work. So have some pretty pictures.
